On the Saturday 2nd June, members of USBC women’s squad competed in a 4+ at the Metropolitan regatta in the Tier 2 category. The crew consisted of Jas Bone (stroke), Maddie Gardner (3), Sophie Hossack (2), Ellie Stevens (bow) and coxed by Fiona Norris. The girls faced tough opposition but made it through their heat and secured themselves a place in the final. Jas commented:
‘We didn’t know what to expect from the day, but our plan was to go out hard and test what we could achieve. We all pushed ourselves to the limit, had a cracking day racing and loved every minute!’ – Jas Bone PHD Student
Sunday 3rd of June saw the men’s squad go out and compete in the 8+ at the Metropolitan regatta. The crew comprised of Lukas Schroth (stroke), Mantas Volkauskas, Charlie Collins, Ben Radcliffe-Brown, Chris Holmes, Roberto De Isidro, Shahbaz Kamran, Wilson Sandengu (bow) and coxed by Ellie Stevens. The opposition faced was tough however the men went out and faced the challenge staying firmly on the path to continuous improvement.
